Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery

COURSE

B.A.M.S. a graduate degree course of Ayurveda awarded after the study of five and a half years duration, including 1-year internship, is being offered by State Model Ayurved College, Gandhinagar. the aim of this program, producing Ayurved graduates having profound knowledge of asthanag ayurved supplemented with knowledge of scientific advances in modern medicine along with extensive practical training, who will become efficient physicians and surgeons fully competent to serve the health care services.   

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Candidate wishing admission to first professional B.A.M.S. should have qualified H.S.E.B. (Science Stream) with ‘B’ group or equivalent examination and should have cleared in NEET in current academic year.

COURSE DESIGN

As per The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine notification 2022, a five & half year syllabus is reconstructed in three professional years followed by compulsory roatary internship duty of 12 months.

THE FIRST PROFESSIONAL deals with mainly 05 subjects i.e Rachana  Sharir(Anatomy), Kriya Sharir(Physiology),  Samhita adhyayan 1(study of Ayurveda classical text), Padarth  Vigyan (Fundamental principles of Ayurveda and Quantum mechanics), Sanskrit evam Ayurveda Itihas and minimum 3 Electives subjects.                                                                                               

THE SECOND PROFESSIONAL includes 06 subjects: Dravya Guna (Pharmacology and Materia Medica-Harbal),  Rasa Shastra-Bhaishjya Kalpana (Materia Medica-Minerals and Metals and Pharmaceutical science), Roga Nidan evam Vikruti  Vigyan (Methods of Diagnosis, Diagnostic procedures and Pathology), Agad Tantra evam Vidhi Vaidyaka (Clinical Toxicology and Medical Jurisprudence), Samhita Adhyayan 2 (study of Ayurveda Classical Text), Swasthavritta evam Yoga (Lifestyle management, Public health and Yoga) and minimum 3 elective subjects.

THE THIRD(Final) PROFESSIONAL comprises 09 subjects: Kayachikitsa including Manasa roga,Rasayan and Vajikarana (Internal medicine including Psychiatry, Rejuvenative medicine, Reproductive medicine and Epigenetics), Panchakarma and Upakarma (Therapeutic procedural management), Stri Prasuti Tantra (Gynaecology and Obstetrics), Kaumarbhritya (Paediatrics), Shalya Tantra (General  surgery), Shalakya Tantra (Eye and ENT, Dentistry), Samhita Adhyayan 3 (study of Ayurveda classical text), Atyaikachikitsa (Emergency medicine), Research Methodology & Medical Statistics and minimum 3 elective subjects.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION AND STUDY

Medium of Instruction and study is Sanskrit, Gujarati, Hindi, and English.

INTAKE CAPACITY

60 + 15 EWS= 75 students per year intake capacity permitted by CCIM.

FEES

As per Government of Gujarat norms. 

DEGREE TO BE AWARDED:

The degree of “Ayurvedacharya  (B.A.M.S. - Bachelor of Ayuvedic Medicine and surgery)” is awarded by the Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar after successful completion of course.
